The movie that will give you the munchies

by Yoshi on Sep.18, 2009 | ITP: , , ,

Fellow foodies beware (or rejoice!): Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs hits theaters today. I remember reading the book as a kid, though judging by the trailers it seems the movie is more of a half-prequel. Seeing as the original book was much more concept than an actual story, I don’t see the harm in such a re-imagining. :P Also the disaster movie nerd in me is very much intrigued by the mentions of parodies of disaster flicks. :D Squee!

I’m actually surprised that Sony’s marketing department didn’t attempt some crazy promotional campaign with restaurant chains. I mean… come on, you KNOW with a movie like this, people are going to pile into restaurants afterwards. One can almost see dollar signs floating over the likes of Old Spaghetti Factory and IHOP. XD (However, Sony DOES have an ad for the Feeding America’s Hunger Helper campaign on the movie’s website.)

If rampant food imagery and disaster movie homages aren’t your thing, maybe this is: Mr. T has a bit part in it. Just saying.

I should see if I can wrench mother away from the evil bulldogs for movie+IHOP raid… either tonight or tomorrow. (This might be a BIT difficult since stupid weather has decided to get its lulz on and crank the temperature up to… WTF?! 102F?!)
Failing that, well, at the very least some Papa Johns minion will be throwing a pizza pie in my face.

(LJ Edition: Flonne’s OMG icon accurately reflects the mood of my inner disaster movie fangirl.)

That’s no LAN Party…

by Yoshi on Sep.04, 2009 | ITP: , ,

Oh Microsoft. Windows House Parties?! XD
Well, you get points for trying, I guess. (Part of me wants to see what these Windows 7 party favors look like, just for laughs.)

Here’s my idea of a Win7 launch party: running around House Ayarane like a headless chicken, dodging LOL BULLDOGS while slapping Windows on all the machines (because mother surely can’t be bothered to config her own machines), and building Yggdrasil (old man Iggy!), and praying that none of the machines explode afterwards.

Certainly there will be pizza involved?!

Speaking of Iggy, I forget if I’ve mentioned it here, but I’ll be waiting until October before I order the last of his parts (case, PSU and wireless-N adapter, possibly video card). Certainly there will be lots of sales as Windows 7′s release date approaches. Monies have already been set aside for Iggy’s assembly, but it’s always nice (both financially and “dude I am AWESOME”) to get stuff for cheap.

(Instant Ramen Sketchbook) Of Mob Scenes and Party Vans

by Yoshi on Aug.22, 2009 | ITP: , , , , ,

(sourced from the DA pile rather than the Ramen subserver because I can, they’ll get posted to the Ramen subserver later)

Aaaaahahahaha I am the worst liberal in the world! And by that I mean I’ve been naughty and made ramen offerings to the MSNBC gods. It just kinda happened, ESPECIALLY the latter.

Best Mob in the World
My inclination to mentally draw parallels between the absurdity of cable news and Azumanga Daioh is going to come back and bite me. Or it could spawn things far more horrible. (Like more episodes of Pundit Games!) For reasons I… don’t quite remember, I was possessed to scribble just about every major MSNBC dood I could think of– not just the primetime heavy hitters like Olbermann and friends, but also the morning and daytime anchors too.

Click for the fullview if you want a full list of all the happy people.

Also I will never, ever get over Chris Matthews’ XD face. Every piece I’ve drawn him in, he’s had the XD face. It’s almost like Xelloss and his near-perma-^_^ face. The man is defined by that Velan-esque “HAH,” one that has become so widespread that both Hardball and Countdown have “HAH” sound bites (similar to how many news stations now have a “D’oh!” button).

Speaking of silliness…

MSNBC Party Van

This is not the FBI Party Van that you are looking for, the one you hear about on 4chan and affiliated acts.
No, this is the opposite! This is the MSNBC Party Van, the clunker that brings joy and awesome, and breaks up acts of lameitude.
(I’m not sure if MSNBC has its own van fleet, or if all the NBC subnets just draw from the same NBC van fleet. Nonetheless, I totally pulled the design for the MSNBC Party Van out of nowhere. Go me!)

This was a sudden scribble, per request of a new community that needed a banner. Ordinarily the next piece in the political ramen queue was going to be another Pundit Games piece, but it got preempted in favor of the MSNBC Party Van.
And yes, the license plate is “BU5H3D1″ :P

Fear not, the Oasis pic is still a go– it merely requires ink and color.
Also, a hint for things to come in the normal ramen queue… Skeleton Generals are best enjoyed extra crispy!

(Undercooked Ramen) What level is Nancy Pelosi, again?

by Yoshi on Aug.18, 2009 | ITP: , , , ,

Today’s Undercooked Ramen brought to you by playing way too much Disgaea.

…of course, if there are Prinnies involved, this could be a BIT problematic.

Concurrently, things like the above are why this feature is called Undercooked Ramen. :P The glory of half-baked ideas~

The Magic Coin Block!

Like the sass and awesome and artwork and other happy things you see on Ayarane Project? Consider tossing a few coins into Yoshi's Magic Coin Block and contribute to the cool. Even better: if you put in 20 coins, you get credit towards a Gourmet Ramen piece! This is cumulative-- you can donate smaller amounts in different instances but have it add up-- and scales to the same parameters as Gourmet Ramen commissions.

Of course, if you want to just buy a Gourmet Ramen commission outright, that's fine too! :)
