Hikaru’s seem a bit… I don’t know, I can’t put my finger on it, beyond that they might look the way they do because of being crammed into that Maximillian plate armor for long periods of time, I suppose. *shrug* Gotta let ‘em out to breathe sometime…

That said… as expected, the water ended up being the better part of the paint job here. Water is not easy to paint, you can’t simply just flood blue, squiggle in some white wavy lines and have it look anything near convincing. At the same time, water is not entirely transparent either, as even bath water has some degree of opacity. This is a much simplified rendering– if I wanted to push it further, you’d see some hints of fleshtones from underneath, but here, just a murky shadow contour will do.

There IS steam here, but it’s quite faint. I debated adding more, but it might have been too much. Hm. This is still early into the bath scene, so steam could add up as it goes on.

While I figure out what part of the Sleepover narrative to draw next, I’ll be drawing updated Avatar forms for Blastoise and Dinah, as well as the future Avatar Yggdrasil (“Iggy”), the Media Center box that will be built upon the release of Windows 7. Blastoise is getting a weapon change from 2h sword to a spear, Dinah’s getting twin blades, and because Iggy is a newcomer… well, I’ll just say that I’ll likely base him on FuSoYa with a bit of Phil, so he’ll most likely get a staff of some sort.

If Time Warner is still as omgfast about patching in new channels, I’ll probably have it same day. (No, really… last time new HD channels were released, we pretty much got ‘em same day as they were advertised for release.)

Woke up at 5am and couldn’t go back to sleep, so I got on Blastoise to ink the third part of Sleepover. Here be a screen of the wireframe, in all its hints at Hikaru fan service. Chelsea… not so much– not quite visible in scribbly wireframe mode, but she’s squeezing soap gel on a sponge… luffa-head-thing.

But then my virus scanner piped up for its daily sweep, and that kinda slows Painter a bit. Yes, even with 4GB of RAM in this thing. You would think that would, you know, make me invincible or something. :P

Of all things, I’m looking forward to painting this. Not so much because for obvious reasons it would be an easy paint job… actually, no, it probably won’t be easy at all since there’s falling water and steam involved and weird colorations I get to deal with, but I’ve not done much involving water in awhile. Call this one of those EXTREMELY RARE moments but I like to think I don’t totally fail at painting water… that, I might (holy smoo!) actually be GOOD at it. Imagine that. o_o

In other news, zee house, it shall be mine for most of today! (Well, except for pets.) Mother and Evil Stepfather are going on some… well, I think it’s one of those city-sponsored/community “field trip” in which they hop a charter bus to a baseball game and barbecue. Whatever. Point being, they won’t be here, and I am totally nomming on pizza tonight.

Kestine is being quite the attention-whore right now, geez… “meow, meow, pet me, meow, purr,” and rubbing his face all over me, and just about everything else on my desk. Also swatting at my Blastoise trinket. I love you too, kitty. :P

Also Daisy has a new collar bell. It sounds huge. I think she’d have been better off with a cowbell. I’ll try to get a pic if she’ll sit still long enough. XD

Hi, my modem fried yesterday, so I finally got around to finishing this piece. (Shows how easily I’m distracted by internets…)
I also, gasp, finished the base portion of Golgi’s status card! Except all the background layers in my card file are damaged so I have to make new ones. I’ll post that later >_>;

So, um, yeah. Look and die of the cute. No, I don’t know what part of the story I’ll be doing next.

I can’t believe I even need to say this, but this is to head off ’nuffers who jump to conclusions too easily, like that one fool who complained about the Flea Vest being unbuttoned in an earlier bromide post.

Sleepover includes a bath scene between Hikaru and Chelsea. It is sooooo not sexual, since that kinda defeats the purpose of this being OMGCUTE and such, and the final versions will have strategically-placed soap suds, and even without them both are featureless anyway…

But because I’m sure certain people will complain all the same about how I’m drawing lolicon (really, I don’t see how Hikaru x Chelsea would even be possible to begin with, given Hikaru still has a truckload of body image issues that sometimes give her pause when it comes to Numair), the LJ version will put any non-wireframe’d WIP screencaps behind a cut. The Facebook feed does this automatically based on post length, so that’s taken care of. However, if you’re seeing this from the Ayarane Project front page, short of manually editing the post (which I am far, FAR too lazy to do), there’s not much I can do aside from indicating that any Sleepover pieces of the bath scene are, regrettably, NSFW.

tl;dr version: Sleepover’s bath scene is not child porn.
