Lilith Rod

In the Extended continuity, the Lilith Rod is Yoshi‘s weapon. A black metallic mage’s staff, it is the companion to the Nirvana. Yoshi’s father Phil crafted both Nirvana and the Lilith Rod ahead of his wedding day, with the Lilith Rod being a gift for his bride Eleanor. The staff features an Ailleraine Saintstone, which synchronizes with the user and meets their strength with their own. The saintstone additionally serves the same purpose as a soul crystal.

When Yoshi left Ishgard to find her own path, Phil reset the profile on the Lilith Rod and handed it over so that Yoshi could attune to it. During A Realm Reborn, the Lilith Rod serves as Yoshi’s weapon as both Black and White Mage, despite it being intended more as a focus for offensive magicks. Channeling healing and support spells through the Lilith Rod is possible, but the aether expenditure is higher, and in some cases, the cooldowns are longer. In Heavensward, after Phil is recruited, Yoshi switches to using the Lilith Rod solely for Black Mage as it was no longer necessary for her to serve as both mage and healer.

In Endwalker, the Lilith Rod evolved slightly during the Aitiascope, after coming into contact with Eleanor’s memory. Though its name is unchanged, the staff granted Yoshi the ability to cast Paradox. Phil later borrowed the Lilith Rod and returned to the depths of the Aitiascope to beckon Eleanor’s memory to him for a chance at a final conversation with his wife.

The Lilith Rod features prominently in Yoshi’s Limit Break Final Embrace. When she turns her back to the massive ice crystal, she taps the staff on the ground, causing the crystal to shatter.
