Much ado about BUUUUH
by Yoshi on Mar.31, 2009 | ITP: loot
I plugged my Wii back in (I know, LAZY) and got it all patched and such… and realized that if I’m going to slap a media center box on this TV, I really should replace the table everything is on with an actual… media center… thing…
As many of you know I’ve always gotten shortchanged in terms of furniture. LOL CARD TABLES and such, right? Siblings have typically gotten new-everything and, um… for some reason, when it came to me, mother was all “oh just give her card tables and be done with it.” My current TV stand is, like… one of those “my first desk” for preschoolers, where depending on how it’s rotated can be a desk or a bench. @_@ So, uh, I should probably do something about this first before I build my new box. As is, my Wii/PS3 are sitting on corkboards on top of my mini-fridge… a workable temporary solution, keyword being TEMPORARY. Better than where my Xbox is sitting (literally, a stack of empty gift boxes).
Since I’m lopping off a bit of my CD on Friday, and because this really is a much needed upgrade, I’m not going to worry about cost. I’m pretty sure there are kits that can accomodate a 26-inch widescreen TV and with a few shelves so I can move my consoles ‘n crap. :P
The only other major “infrastructure” thing I can think of getting is a mini-freezer. That would dramatically increase my backup munchie capacity. >_>;
Also i should probably shower… like… soon…
The Yoshi Cobbler
by Yoshi on Mar.31, 2009 | ITP: food, loot, yoshi day, yoshi the computer monster
As a byproduct of Yoshi Day, I’ll have ALMOST enough parts to cobble together another desktop. Yeah, this has happened before (I did, after all, assemble Reuben out of leftover parts), but the difference this time is that this machine will be miiiiine. >:D
Seriously, though… I’ve built all these machines, and this will only be the second one that’s for my own use. I’m not like mother and want a bazillion of them, but, you know, it’d be neat to slap one on my HDTV. Torrents and Painter on a big display? Yes please. I’m reusing my old GeForce 7600GT from Blastoise’s initial Erdekaiser build, so games will also be playable if I so wish it… though in those cases Blastoise is probably miles better. (Put another way, useful for those rare instances in which Robert actually comes over here and wants to play WoW; he can run on Blastoise and I’d run from this yet-to-be-named box.)
All I gotta do is front a case, a PSU (I have my old 430w but I’d rather get a modular variant) and an OS and I’m good to go. :D Since this is basically a Media Center-grade machine, may as well slap Vista Ultimate on it, too.

Apparently Wednesday = not only delicious chocolate caek, but chocolate silk pie, too.
Bad brain, no ideas
by Yoshi on Mar.28, 2009 | ITP: dreamland, the internet is for porn, yoshi's imagination
I had this dream yesterday in which I’m looking at Slashdot and I see a book review for e-peen: Nerd Rage and the Internet’s Phallic Fixation. I don’t remember much of the details but I just remember a lot of the thread being solely “lol” or similar /b/-tardery.
Because the author was a female.
Now, as much as I find it ludicrous how the collective internet consciousness has this bizarre fixation with phallic imagery… would I be a freak to say that I actually wish such a book really exists? Concurrently, if there’s anything remotely resembling it out there, please, point it out to me. I don’t know whether to file this under “morbid curiosity” or “seriously, I want to know what is so fascinating about… that.”

Other highlights of Yoshi Dreamland included:
- a bizarro-FF4 in which Zeromus was actually a bulldog
- Cooking with Pigeon… who for some reason is wearing Cal’s final equipment, including JINT cowboy hat
- something involving wandering around on a cruise ship (this is actually very common and is probably a big hint that I really need to take a trip somewhere)
- twisted scenes of everyday RL, but with MMO HUDs (like, my CoH friends list and global channel windows, also very common)
the rest is just… blotches of color and weird noises. Probably me snoring. :P
the countdown begins
by Yoshi on Mar.25, 2009 | ITP: loot, yoshi day
T minus 7 days to Yoshi Day.
Screw April Fools. Bring on delicious chocolate buttercream cake!
Seriously, I’ve got a bad craving for that right now. Not even chocolate donuts will work.
Uhm…. I don’t know if I should just go nuts on Amazon and/or Best Buy (yay $20 rewards zone certificate!) and time it so the box full of loot gets here on Yoshi Day, or buy all that stuff on the actual day or wait until MONTCLAIR RAID or something. (I know I’m holding my Gamestop card for the latter.)

I need to do laundry today. >_>;
Depending on how much I can get done (contingent on how long mother lets the Pups of the Apocalypse wander, because their play area obstructs passage to the laundry room, gah), I’ll either go deposit this rebate check tonight, else it gets deposited tomorrow after library service. Need to poke mother for her share of this month’s pet insurance premium too.
I even forget my own rules.
by Yoshi on Mar.19, 2009 | ITP: argh, bulldogs are evil, oof, parental misanthropy
Specifically, the one about assuming my mother has anything resembling logic or reason.
She bought another white bulldog.
….
Yeah. You heard me.
Snowflake’s been gone less than a week, and… well, Pigeon demonstrates his amazing powers of seeing the future.
Gently mentioning “isn’t this a bit too soon?” sailed right over mother’s head. And then some, as her response is more like a kick in both the face and the pants: “I missed having a little female wandering around.”
I… um… wow.
I don’t know whether to be greatly offended at the confirmation that I really don’t matter anymore (and believe me, I really don’t need to feel any more alone and abandoned than I already do), or just disgusted at how completely unreasonable the whole situation is.
Mother was laughing off Octomom on the news. WTF. Does my mother not get that she’s the bulldog version of Nadya Suleman?

In other news, on Tuesday I slipped in the shower. My tankiness worked in my favor for the most part since it was more “roll” than “fall” but my upper left arm has a giant-ass bruise from having plowed into the trash can, and that’s pretty much kept me out of volunteer service for at least this week… hopefully it dies down by next week. Sore as hell. Ow.
